Teachers have always known that successful students are usually those who have the skills and attitudes to take responsibility for their own learning. In this talk, we will look at what research into learner autonomy tells us about what it is and what we can do to develop it. While learner autonomy is especially significant when teaching teenagers and adults, the skills and mindset needed should be developed at all ages.
