[ELTWeekly Volume 6, Issue 4 | February 17, 2014]
Loyola – ICAM College of Engineering and Technology (LICET) is holding a workshop for the teachers of English on February 27-28, 2014. The theme of the workshop is “English and Employability in Industry – Training the Teachers of English of Engineering Colleges”.
A note on workshop
In this era of globalization, English is considered no more a language of prestige but utility. Apart from learning Technical English, the students need to equip themselves with soft skills like communication, inter-personal relations, time management, stress management etc. Often the employers look for young graduates who are creative, competent, committed and compassionate. Retaining one’s position in an industry, even after being placed remains a challenge these days. This makes it imperative to train the students on employability skills.
Objectives
- To help the students leave the portals of the college, well-equipped.
- To face the challenges in the industry.
- To prevent unnecessary delay in taking up the job under the pretext of training.
- To understand the different cultures of various organizations.
- To build up self-confidence.
