Here is an insightful article from Cambridge English Blog.
Emre Atakul says, “During the pandemic, teachers started looking for and learning new approaches to engage students. Most of them benefited from regular film viewing. I also found new ways to help my students learn. In order to boost students’ comprehension, for instance, I had them pick a TV series of their own choice and watch the same episodes perpetually. This helped them memorize the lines, including so many essential phrases to the extent that they were able to use them during speaking.
Videos as a teaching tool
Videos are a great tool to help engage students inside and outside the classroom. We, teachers, are no longer those old-fashioned lecturers and today’s students can be easily distracted. There is no doubt that audio-visual materials have been a great help in progressing students’ language learning. Therefore, using age-appropriate audio-visuals at the right time will have great benefits and powerful results. Videos improve the quality of lessons by having the learners engage in a given task on a cultural level and it triggers their inspiration to think creatively.”
