The British Council, in full partnership with English and Foreign Languages University (EFL-U) Hyderabad will come together again to host the International English Language Teacher Educator Conference in Hyderabad from 21 – 23 February 2014 with support from the English Language Teachers’ Association of India (ELTAI) and the International Association for Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL).
Exploration and experimentation are two key terms in any teacher’s life; without them teaching becomes boring and repetitive. Today, in the 21st century, these two aspects get intertwined with technology, leading to varied innovations and other pioneering practices.
“Any system, in order to be forward looking, must be bold in encouraging experimentation and innovations and also be involved with constant review of the outcomes of such efforts. The field of teacher education should be no exception.” (National Curriculum Framework for Teacher Education 2009/10 pg 83)
In line with this NCFTE assertion, the 2014 International English Language Teacher Educator conference carries innovation as its theme addressing the roles of exploration and experimentation in English language teacher education through technology and other innovative and pioneering practices.
The main theme of the conference this year is ‘Innovation in English Language Teacher Education’.
