As the world shifts into a global society and English increasingly becomes the language of transaction across the globe; educational institutions have to play a pivotal role in equipping tomorrow’s leaders with the power of English language. As a result, the nature of English Language Teaching has to undergo a change as it meets the demands of preparing students’ for a global economy. The ‘Who’ we teach is changing as learners are learning the language for different purposes. The ‘What’ we teach is changing as we move towards ‘Global English’ and the varying demands of our learners in the new age. The ‘How’ we teach is changing as technology has revolutionized the way we teach.
These changes mean new challenges for us in the field of ELT and it has never been more important to be updated as it is today.
