Vol. 4 Issue 46 – Video: Teaching Listening: Gist & Detail

ELTWeekly Vol. 4 Issue#46 | November 12, 2012 | ISSN 0975-3036

  1. Thank you for sharing this effective, practical, and low tech listening lesson. As the introduction notes, sometimes international students – even with solid TOEFL scores – find it difficult to discern both the gist and detail of everyday conversations in English speaking countries. This step by step lesson, which heightens active listening skills, helps prepare students for authentic communication.
