What are your views on the trajectory of Indian English?Global English with Professor David Crystal. Another innovative feature of Global – Macmillan’s new course for adult learners of English.
An interesting observation…and yet it is difficult to entirely agree with Prof Crystal. A glance at the past history is relevant. There were thousands of Englishmen and women in India for over two hundred years, and yet, but for some Indian words that became a part of English lexicon, there was no other Indian influence upon English English. In any case, lexicon has always been opn-ended. I can’t quite see any other possibility.
