ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

Sathyabama University was established under Section (3) of the UGC Act, 1956, in the year 1987. It is a pioneer institute imparting knowledge in the areas of engineering, science, technology and education.  The progress and contribution of the university in the field of technical education for over two decades made the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of India to grant University status Under Section (3) of the UGC Act, 1956. Sathyabama University is steered towards success under the leadership of visionary Honorable Chancellor Col. Dr. JEPPIAAR, Madam Chancellor Tmt. Remibai Jeppiaar, and the able support and guidance of the Directors  Dr. Marie Johnson and Dr. Mariazeena Johnson. The university has undertaken various sponsored projects funded by National organizations such as ISRO, DST, IGCAR, DRDO.,  MoEF, CSIR, NRSC, DBT, MWR, BRNS, CVRDE etc. The University is successfully conducting non-formal education programmes through 18 village Resource Centers all over the state.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of English is one among the established departments since the inception of the university in the year 1987. It actively involves in various research works in the area of English Language and Literature. Apart from the academics, the Department imparts verbal ability, personality development, soft skills and placement training to students at the tertiary level. The faculty members have publications in reputed National and International journals. The Third International and 39th ELTAI conference was successfully conducted by the department in 2008 besides conducting workshops, conferences and symposiums every year. The department offers Ph.D. program in ELT and English Literature.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

Due to the explosion of knowledge, there is a growing demand for effective communicators especially in the area of science and technology. Hence, the conference intends to provide a common platform to English language educators, research scholars, ESL learners and material writers to focus on the changes that are taking place in various aspects of EST and on Technical Writing. The interaction among the teachers, professionals and research scholars is bound to lend a fresh look into classroom mechanisms, curriculum design and autonomous learning. CALL FOR PAPERS

Original and unpublished papers are invited from English language teachers, Professionals, Technical writers  and Research Scholars (even from other disciplines)for presentations or workshops on the theme of the conference and other related aspects of English Language Teaching(ELT). The abstract (150 words) and the full paper (1500 words) should be sent in MS word format, Times New Roman – 12 with 1.5  line space. Include the title of the paper in bold,  Times New  Roman – 14,  the  name(s)  of  the  author(s)  and  the  full address  with  email id .

Paper Presenters: Rs. 1000 /-

Participation: Rs.   750 /-

DD should be drawn in favour of Sathyabama University, payable at Chennai.

* For joint presentation each author should register separately.
