UPALS ICL 2013 is organized by the UiTM Penang Academy of Language Studies and aims to provide a platform for presenters and participants to meet up and exchange ideas besides establishing a professional network on areas of common interest.

The conference objectives are to:

  • emphasize the relevance of languages in diverse environments
  • develop a more sensitive culture towards the potential of using multi languages in the context of daily
  • apply and put into practice the different language skills effectively
  • provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, know-how and research findings on current educational scenarios and trends related to language learning and teaching
  • provide a platform to disseminate knowledge and information related to the planning, organization and management of language learning and teaching
  • provide a meaningful meeting point for teachers and alike to engage in intellectual discourse in forming a discourse community with similar knowledge, language and goals
  • provide an arena for identifying the challenges, needs and possible future directions of language learning and teaching
