Learning is a complex activity, but it is a continuous process

Education doesn’t mean merely cramping some facts and figures but to understand how it can be used for solving the problems in our life. Swami Vivekananda, a patriotic, Hindu monk, and also an educationist says, “Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man”. It is the only wealth which cannot be robbed or fired. The answer for all national problems comes in a single word “EDUCATION”.

Education accumulates our character, lengthens our knowledge, stipulates our strength of mind and supports the human values. A great psychologist John Dewey said, “Education develops social and harmonious value in a man”. So everyone should be educated and education should reach every one’s doorstep.

What is Education?

The essence of education is concentration of mind to collect the facts. Education is not the amount of information that gives to our mind. Man-making, character-making, life- building knowledge is a real education.

Gandhiji, Father of our Nation said, “Education is a self-realization and literacy is neither the beginning nor the end of education”. From the childhood, education should be given practically rather than theoretically.

Real education is that which enables one to stand on one’s own legs. Learners should be provided an opportunity to work on their own effort. That education only helps them to develop their individuality.

Education helps to develop their individuality and to develop their personality. To provide education to all many learning systems has been introduced and learning should take place in the pleasant atmosphere.

How is education valued?

Education is valued by attaining knowledge in the language, English. English should be taught through language lab, grammar pattern, phonetic sounds, parts of speech, accent, stress, intonation etc. Learners should be taught about the four skills in English such as Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. Teachers should strive hard to make the learners to achieve these skills. It should be taught properly from the childhood by eminent, educated and efficient trained teachers. It should be taught as a living language, and not as a literature. To acquire higher education one should possess the knowledge of English language. Education is an ocean, an imperishable wealth, grows on sharing and lasts up to grave. It also helps to develop their confident level in learning process.

Teachers’ Role in Education

Teachers’ role cannot be ignored because they are closer to the students and enjoy more privileges on students than parents. So teachers should observe their behavior and interest and channelize their energy in a positive way to develop their knowledge. Teachers should be a role model to be emulated by the students. Teacher should teach interestingly, interactively and contextually by understanding the students’ interest and need. Students should be provided an opportunity to work on their own effort. They should be taught to develop their knowledge and to learn themselves with the help of technological gadgets. The technology extends educational opportunity to develop new ways of learning.

Conclusion

Education can be achieved not by simply testing the learner but by providing easy and interesting available facilities which a teacher cannot provide in the class. Teacher should be a facilitator. Education aims at problem solving, personality developing, character building and man making. So our education system needs a drastic change in inculcating good discipline and character in the learners. Our curriculum should develop positive thoughts in the mind of the students.
