It was while teaching in London in 1998 that he was asked to write and present a radio series for BBC English. This led to other free-lance commissions and in 2000 Callum gave up regular classroom teaching to work full-time at the BBC. As well as producing radio series for learners and teachers of English Callum also began to work on internet projects for the developing web presence of what was to become bbclearningenglish.com.
