Professor Dawson enjoys finding innovative ways to improve the learning experience of her students in large 2nd year classes with in-person and online sections (CUOL). She has used a variety of e-learning tools in her courses from discussion boards, electronic submission and grading of students’ written work, plagiarism software, back channel tools, videos, clickers, BigBlueButton for synchronous communication, and Twitter. Some of these tools helped engage her students, some did not. Drawing on her experience and the results of students’ feedback, Professor Dawson will provide insight into advantages and disadvantages of some of the e-learning tools she has tried.
