International Conference on ‘Reimagining Existence: Emerging Perspectives in World Literature and Language’ March 10-11, 2025

The Department of English, School of Liberal Arts, XIM University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha invites academicians, research scholars and social scientists to participate in a Two-Day International Conference (Hybrid Mode) on “Reimagining Existence: Emerging Perspectives in World Literature and Language” on 10-11 March 2025.

The complexities of existence have been the perennial focus of literary and linguistic enquiry. From existentialist philosophy to postcolonial narratives, from modernist experiments with the form to the new media expressions of the digital age, literature and language have provided critical tools for questioning and articulating existence. In today’s era marked by rapid technological advances, shifting cultural paradigms, and global interconnectedness, there is a profound shift in how humanity understands and articulates existence. Contemporary research increasingly highlights the role of literature in addressing global challenges such as climate change, migration, and identity crises, while linguistic studies emphasize the evolution of language as a site of resistance, innovation, and cultural negotiation. World literature serves as both – a mirror and a magnifier of human experience, reflecting shared struggles while providing distinct cultural insights. Similarly, language that acts as the vehicle for shaping these narratives evolves in tandem with sociopolitical and technological advancements. Reimagining existence involves revisiting established themes, embracing marginalized voices, and acknowledging the role of interdisciplinary approaches in shaping how existence is expressed and understood.

The International Conference on “Reimagining Existence: Emerging Perspectives in World Literature and Language” aims to provide a vibrant platform for exploring how literature and language reinterpret human existence in response to contemporary global challenges. Bringing together scholars, writers, translators, and educators, the event serves as a confluence of traditional and modern thought, investigating emerging narratives and linguistic practices that redefine human experience.
