Call for Research Papers

Main Theme: World Literatures in English

There was a timewhen English literature was confined to British literature alone. Gradually, it was extended to literatures written in English in countries like America, Australia, Canada and New Zealand. Thanks to globalization of English, the boundary of literature written in English crossed more continents and countries. In addition to the above countries, literatures written in English language in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nigeria, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Caribbean countries are incorporated under one umbrella term, World Literatures in English. The unique quality of this literature is common language (English) but different literatures, coloured by different society and culture. The authenticity of World Literatures in English is validated by many Nobel, Booker, and Commonwealth prizes won by the writers of this literature. The 59th All India English Teachers Conference, therefore, focuses on World Literatures in English to vindicate the cosmopolitan core of literature. The sub-topics may be the following:

  1. World Literatures and the Mankind
  2. Community, Culture and Literature
  3. Literature of the Diaspora
  4. SAARC Literature
  5. Afro-Asian Studies
  6. Canadian Studies
  7. Gender Studies
  8. Popular Culture and Literature

  14. Lesbian Studies
  15. Indian Writings in English
  16. Indian Poetics
  17. Regional Literatures

  19. Folk Literature

The areas suggested above are from literature and of common interest.  Areas related to English Language Teaching, Translation Studies and many more, such as English and Technology, Soft Skills, Use of ICT in English, Vocabulary building etc may be added as per participants’ interest and specialization.Papers on such areas in English Studies are also welcome.

We would urge each of our fellow delegates who may wish to present a paper to ensure that they send a short abstract of their proposed paper in about 250 words to the local secretary latest by 18th November 2014 positively along with the registration form and registration fee.
